Oil prices increased??

Was watching Buletin Utama and just found out that the government is increasing the price of Petrol and diesel in Malaysia...again. The increase of 41% from the old price will start tomorrow and the new price is at RM 2.70 per litre for petrol and RM 2.58 for diesel. According to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad, the old subsidise price will no longer be in used and instead RM625 per annum will be repaid to cars under 2000cc, jeep/pickup under 2500cc- and RM 150 per annum for motorcycle under 250cc owners which will be refunded (cash) during the renewal or payment of road tax via Malaysian Post. According to the ministry, the fluctuation of the world-oil-price will also be observed and adjusted monthly. and looking at the current condition, I doubt that the price will ever go below ever again. Meanwhile, it is quoted that the RM28billion which is funded last year for oil-price is actually needed by the government for the 'further development' of the nation and will also be put into use to subsidse the food and products sector which last year alone consumed almost Rm30billion.

The thing is I wonder, if the consumer products sector is being funded by the oil-price subsidy, that means the consumer products prices will actually decrease in prices right?

Just to quote Datuk Shahir from the interview, he doesn't believe that the increase of oil-prices will ever affect other sectors, which we are made to believe that other sectors will stick to their original prices? Give me a break.

What do you think??

Malaysiaku indah.

First of all thanks for the comments. I know its a damn hot issue right now. Correction is made and thank you totally my mistake. =P

Seriously I won't want to side any parties at the moment, but as a Malaysian, I believe I have the right to point out my views.

It's true that life style is changing and we have to change as well but shouldn't the politicians change their decisions for the better as well? I know that minyak kat Malaysia akan habis in 2013 and the price is increasing. But seriously, how many trillions of profit have they made before this from oil revenue? Where have all the money gone to? It's not the oil price that I'm mad at but kalau nak kira pakai jari, most profits go to the ones who is scratching the politicians back. Are we too dumb to be believe that all the supposed subsidy have really been given back to the people?

I won't be deceived... =P

Well..first thing to point out is that the government lied in the first place. the propaganda in the election period was there'll be no foresee increase of oil price at least until end of the year, said loud and clear. and then a couple of days before the sudden announcement on Black Wednesday, whoever the minister is said no increase until August. Man, they've been bullshitting us all along, and we're meant to swallow this shit just because they ''couldn't sustain the subsidy plans anymore''. Yes, lotsa Malaysian are wasteful in their daily consumption of almost everything, that we need to change lifestyles towards betterment, but lest we forget about those staying in remote places. How are they going to "re-adjust" their lifestyles with the ever-increasing consumers daily needs by irresponsible middlemen, shopkeepers etc, when all this while they've been living on barely enough incomes?

Talk about other sectors won't be affected?! Bah..whoever dumbass said that thought just because he holds the ministry profile, everyone going to agree with him? Unless real, hardcore forces keep a good check on prices of goods, only low-class mentality Malaysian would believe him.

I agree with what you said, Munawe. Real hot n spicy topic! Don't we Malaysians love hot n spicy?! =P
