Half empty or half full...

What would you say, if one day, you are presented with a glass of water... Not a full glass nor is it empty... You pick up the glass and look at the glass thoroughly... Now comes a friend and ask what do you see?

Do you see a glass which is half full or half empty? Still remember the old saying that says, look at the glass as half full and not as half empty? Why do people say that? Is a half empty glass necessarily a bad thing?

The life that we know, a small thing like this could actually influence us without us knowing. A half empty glass has its own potential now doesn't it? We are asked to look at the positive side when one says look at it as half full. Don't be pessimistic one says. Being optimistic brings joy and happiness. But how does taking the empty half of a glass as a bad thing a good thing?

The empty half of the glass has it's potential. What if the water is too hot and you needed ice? You have to make room for ice, thus a half empty glass. All I'm saying here is, sometimes being a little pessimistic pays off. A little sadness in life doesn't hurt... well maybe a little. But aren't these the little things that teaches you new stuff in life? Lessons that you wouldn't forget in life doesn't come cheap. It always comes with a sacrifice. Now if you take things too positively, these lessons won't mean a thing now would it? Some might disagree so might I suggest a narrative:

You meet a new person. He/She has the greatest smile in the world and was so friendly that you could swear you've known each other for a very long time upon your first meeting. One day, he/she comes up to you and asked you for a loan of RM300. Without any doubt, you give it to them. Up till the time you read this story, not a single cent from that money has been paid to you. Question is, do you still loan any of your new found friends money without a doubt? Doubt here represents the opposite of optimism.

Half empty or half full, all I could say is, it's still water. Each half has its own potential and to my beloved readers, don't just ignore their potential. With each glass, there will always be a lesson behind them. Ignorance is never bliss. It's down right stupid...
